Whiz Kid

Kennedy loves reading to herself. She reads, or rather recites, phrases from all of her books now. And there are two books she can completely recite: "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" and "No, David". "No David" is definitely her new found favorite and she always reads it with plenty of gusto.

She's so smart!! ... Have you heard of the program "Your baby can Read" ... The idea behind it is that the natural time for a baby to learn how to read is when they are learning how to talk and at first they just memorize the words but after a while they will start picking up on the patterns of the written language and learn how to pronounce words they've never seen. Well one of my friends bought it and has been using it with her 1 yr. old and 3 yr. old for the past few months and now they BOTH know how to read ... it's amazing! Anyways we bought it for Boston and started it last week. The first 50 words takes a few months but then after that they start picking up new words really fast. You can start as early as 3 months! It would probably come so easy for Kennedy right now. You should look into it.

I love the No, David books. You should check out Alice, the Fairy also by David Shannon. It would be too hard for Kennedy to read, but it has great pictures of a girl who pretends to be a fairy and gets into mischief. I gave it to my nieces a few years ago and they love it.

wahooooo! I LOVE BROWN BEAR. That is one of the best books ever. Kids are so smart-it's a sign of a good parent that she can recite all that. You must read to her often!

I have an autistic nephew that can recite No David, it's really funny. When my dad broke one of their windows the other day he recited it to him. Good book.
